Legal Background

The Law on granting Nationality for Investments and Donation is regulated under Decree Law 7/2025 (Regulamentação da Nacionalidade por Investimento ou Doação).

About

São Tomé & Príncipe is a small island nation located in the Gulf of Guinea, roughly 200km’s West of Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. It is made up of two main islands (the first being São Tomé and the second being Príncipe) and then several smaller islets not big enough to register as official islands. It has a total land mass of 1,000KM², making it the second smallest country on the continent of Africa, with only the Seychelles being smaller.

Documents Required

The list of mandatory documents for the citizenship of São Tomé and Príncipe through investment

1) Fully completed and signed application form;
2) Certified copy of the valid passport of the applicant and dependents;
3) Document Proving the Statelessness of the Applicant and their descendants
4) Criminal record certificates issued by the competent authorities of the countries of nationality and residence for the last five years;
5) Proof of residence;
6) Declaration of lawful source of funds, accompanied by bank documentation;
7) Proof of payment of the basic fee;
8) Due Diligence Report issued by an entity recognized by the UCID;
9) Other documents deemed necessary by the authorities and/or the UCID to expedite the process.

All documents issued in a foreign country must be translated into Portuguese or English and must bear an Apostille stamp.

You can collect the passport through the authorized agent or at embassy of Sao Tome and Principe.

Yes they can.

Yes, they can be included in the same application.
